Detectives from DCI Starehe have begun a manhunt for a suspect who assaulted and killed a 51-year-old man in an Eastleigh flat over a disagreement about water supply.
After murdering Abdifatah Hassan Barre with a Somali sword, the suspect, only identified as Issa, fled into hiding. According to the deceased’s son, Mohamud Abdifatah Hassan, his father was hired by a client to supply water at an enterprise near Almin Hospital in Eastleigh using his water bowser.
But upon arrival, father and son were confronted by a group of business rivals who claimed that the duo had invaded their water vending ‘territory.’
A bitter exchange of words ensued before the suspect reached for a Somali sword and in one powerful thrust, struck the deceased on the left side of his chest killing him instantly.
The suspect then fled the scene to an unknown destination. Efforts to save the man’s life by rushing him to nearby Almin Hospital were fruitless, as he was confirmed to have succumbed to the injury.
Reactions from Kenyans on FaceBook
Ask him his identity documents and if he has, take it from him and deport him plus his whole family and friends. Please DCI watch these guys in Eastleigh very carefully some of them have criminal records and hiding in Nairobi. they don’t deserve to hide under our Somali Kenyan community.
The criminal here is the Nairobi city government which failed to deliver an essential service to its inhabitants. A city that depends on water tracks is a failed city.
It’s very sad at this time and age, some primitives to individuals still use orthodox means to settle scores. There are a million ways to solve such problems in society but still, but unscrupulous cartels think otherwise. My condolences and sympathy to the family and friends.
This are the consequences of Nairobi water n sewerage company colluding with cartels, imekuwa biashara. They are closing down main pipes for supply n they have their pple sell water to residents n obviously get their cut. And by end month we get bills with their standing charges of which they want to add tarriffs yet we dont have water
