A man who let his underage son drive his car has been fined Sh.20,000 or serve three months in jail.
Ayub Kinyanjui Muigai was today charged with permitting his seven-year-old son who is not a holder of a valid driving license to drive his SUV.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate Manuella Kinyanjui at Kandara Law Courts, Muigai pleaded guilty.
“The law is clear that only those with valid driver’s licenses are allowed to drive. The court fines you Sh20,000 or serve three months in prison,” court ruled.
Muigai was arrested yesterday by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after the clip capturing his son driving the Toyota Prado went viral.
In the video, the boy is approached and greeted by a man who asks him if he is really the driver of the car and he responds “Yes.”
The man then asks the boy to prove that he could really drive and the boy drives a few metres ahead at Delview Park area in Thika.
