Mandera County Placed On Lockdown

People who reside in the Mandera County will not be able to travel in and out of the county from 1900hrs today, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared.

Mandera becomes the latest county to have the cessation of movement order after Nairobi, Mombasa, and the counties of Kilifi and Kwale.

Mandera had been declared a hotspot for the virus after32 people who traveled from Nairobi managed to disappear from a quarantine facility in Elwak town under unclear circumstances earlier this month.

The state has, to prevent the spread of coronavirus via local transmissions opted for the cessation of movement by air and road into and out of Mandera for 21 days.

Kenya has now surpassed 300 positive cases, the latest number being 303
