Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge jets in from Austria after historic race

Marathon Champion Eliud Kipchoge quietly jetted back into the country, on the morning of Wednesday, October 16, after an impressive show in Vienna.

The champion arrived in Kenya at around 6:18 a.m. without the pomp and glamour that he left with on Monday, October 7.

He arrived aboard a Kenya Airways flight.

“Honoured to fly our champion, Eliud Kipchoge, home from Amsterdam. The Pride is so proud of you,” shared the national airline with photos of the Kipchoge and their crew.

Kipchoge returns roughly three days since shattering the INEOS Challenge where he became the first human to run the 42km marathon in under 2 hours.

The marathoner jetted in a few hours after his wife, children and pacesetters arrived in the country on Tuesday, October 15.

The team was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by West-Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo.
