MCAs Spend The Night at County Assembly awaiting to Impeach Waiguru

Kirinyaga Members of County Assembly (MCA’s) who are determined to impeach the governor Anne Waiguru this morning allegedly slept at the County assembly and switched off their phones.

The governor has been facing resistance from the MCAs with the recent tussle when the members of Kirinyaga county assembly rejected the budget that had Sh90 million allocated for furniture and her official residence.

Her attempts to stop the impeachment motion by attempting to scare some MCAs to vote against her ouster motion hit the wall and the MCAs, who claim to be the majority,

The group behind the embattled governor, however, say they have the support of 24 out of 33 members of the county assembly and that the motion is already null and void as there is a valid court order stopping the impeachment  Her opponents insist that the orders have elapsed as the matter was not prosecuted.

“We are determined to play our role as the representatives of the people. We do not want undue influence from outsiders that is why we decided that we will spend our night here. We have even switched off our mobile phones,” one of the MCAs told journalists.

The MCAs want Waiguru out for gross violation of the Constitution, abuse of office, and gross misconduct.
