Meet the Matatu Tycoon taking General Badi head on

The chairman of Matatu Operators Association Mr. Jimal Ibrahim is embroilled in a ‘bitter war’ with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services ( NMS) Director General Mohammed Badi.

The war is resulting from the association’s ‘hidden involvement’ in city politics at the time when the matatu industry is also criticizing Badi’s leadership style.

Mr. Jimal is an influential and a heavy investor in the transport industry. He also enjoys close ties with the Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who is also throwing shades at the general.

He is the man behind Arababr Investments which has suspicious economic and political goals objectives. Under it, Jimal has Arababr Sacco that he uses control and extort in matatu routes like Jogoo Rd, South B and Eastleigh.

The influence and connectictions with the gangs around these these areas is what Jimal is secretly ‘selling’ to the Deputy President William Ruto who wants to become president in 2022.

Jimal is also the man calling shots at Tel Aviv Sacco, another matatu hub that the ‘The Hustler Movement’ is using to control the matatu industry for 2022 use.

Hustler Movement is associated with the DP William Ruto and his Tangatanga outfit.

Jimal is a point man like that but now he remains a marked man for undermining the state efforts to handle  Covid-19’s spiking numbers when he called for a national strike.

The plans by the Matatu Tycoon to have matatu operators in Nairobi oppose NMS boss Gen. Badi have been exposed.

The combative general is now carrying on with what he calls efforts to decongest the city, by stopping the noisy matatus from operating within the central business district.

Jimal has convened several meetings with other Sacco officials to rally them behind Governor Sonko who is in a supremacy battle with Badi.

He also enjoys close with powerful cartels at the City Hall who are also out to fight Badi.

Jimal’s connections with a network of city cartels facilitated him to operate multi million matatu empire.

He has also pocketed senior officials ‘starving’ at the National Transport Safety Authority and Kenya Revenue Authority to corruptly run his car import business.
