MP unceremoniously burries his mother at night

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Thursday evening, June 11, alleged that his counterpart, Kiambu Central MP Jude Njomo had been forced to bury his mother at 8 pm in the night.

Kuria claimed that Deputy President William Ruto was to visit Njomo’s family on Sunday at their home in Kananga.

“It is really shocking. He was called in the night and told that the mother would be buried immediately,” Kuria stated.

The vocal MP accused the government of double standards when it came to how Kenyans were being allowed to conduct burial for their loved ones.

Njomo took to social media to announce on Tuesday, June 9 to announce the death of his mother with a moving message.

“You gave life to me, turned a baby into a gentleman. All you had to offer was a promise of a lifetime of love. Now I know there’s no other love like a mother’s love…

“It breaks my heart to say goodbye. Rest in Peace Mom!” he wrote on Facebook.

One of the measures the government has taken to combat the spread of coronavirus in Kenya is the ban of all forms of gathering that is larger than 15 people.

In a press briefing on April 30, 2020, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe told Kenyans that there would be numerous challenges with regards to the disposal of the bodies in the wake of Covid-19.

“Be mentally prepared and accept that Covid-19 bodies shall be disposed of in a manner that protects the living from infections and accordance with burial protocols put in place,” he stated.
