Mr. Ye drops Jesus Is King

This is his ninth studio album, Kanye Omari West is of course one of the best rapper cum producers who served good music and controversy. Many lovers of hip hop will tell you that Kanye before his mum passed was dope.

It could be a long debate but coz attention must be paid to times and change. Art is evolving and artists should.

This a completely different Kanye, he is through music showing his closeness with God. I could predict this coz Kanye has written, produced and performed many great pieces, soulful and with deep connection with God.

Jesus walks must come to thae mind coz its when Omari was in his prime. His deal with Roca-A-Fella put him in the A-list status, he was hungry and putting out great songs. He produced Twista’s everyday featuring Anthony Hamilton and Hopeful featuring Faith Evans. Those hip hop joints were spiritual, very spiritual.

So Kanye’s trip with Lord has been long and hip hop has been the train he travelled. When he produced John Legend’s ‘used to love you’ and made the video had scenes in church. That song sounded more gospel than love hate song.

Some may think Pete Rock or Jay Dilla but Kanye must also be one of the finest hip hop producers with a soulful sound. His art is beautiful, producer Kanye knows where to chop, pitch bend and spread the drums.

In this album Kanye is showcasing his spiritual self, from production, barz and performance. Mr Ye has us in church and the blend with hip hop is amazing. This is the feel hip hop is about, from when it began in the park with the DJ and the two turntable, hip hop culture and religions have a nice blend.

Kanye describes this album as an expression of gospel. The eleven tracks making this project are full of references from the scripture, verses are quoted and the beautiful gospel theme is artistically maintained.

Kanye lives to his G- status (Grammy) anytime he sets his foot inside the booth. Selah for instance is beautifully written and performed. One can’t help but visualize Kanye reading the Bible and so to all Kanye lovers, Jesus Is King is for you. Def Jam, released it.
