Back in the day, Nairobi had only two notable power couples; Debra Sanaipei and her fiancée Michael Okwiri, an Airtel top boss, alongside Stephen Kariuki and Nana Gecaga.
Fast forward to present day, and in less than a space of 30 days, Stephen Kariuki has faced a myriad of charges, from vandalism of property belonging to the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, to contempt of court, and now, incitement to cause malicious damage to private property.
A look at his rap sheet makes one wonder how this happy-go-lucky dude ever managed to bag blue blood in the name of Nana Gecaga, who is a niece of the president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.

A couple of years back the two were a high flying item, with religion seeming to meet politics as Stephen is the son to popular Bishop, Margret Wanjiru.
About three weeks ago, Stephen was in trouble for failing to honour a court directive to compensate the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company.
The former Starehe MP’s son, Stephen Kariuki, was ordered to pay Ksh534,000 to the water company after he bumped into one of its cars in 2014.
Gladson Auctioneers Limited were said to be camping at Mr Kariuki’s Kiambu residence with carts, ready to cease household items as well as cars owned by the Stephen and his mum.
Kariuki, former Mathare MP was driving the car in question when the accident happened in February 2014.
Prudent Loss Assessors were mandated to investigate the incident and reported that the former Mathare legislator was at fault.
The assessors had also been tasked to investigate the ownership details of the vehicles that were involved in the accident.
“Upon receipt of your instructions…we moved to the field and confirmed that the third party vehicle reg. number KAT 019Z, and at the time of the subject accident, was being driven by one Stephen N. Kariuki, according to police records,” the assessors report read in part.
More recently, he was arrested over the weekend for taking part in an illegal demolition exercise of a church.
