Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced a major reshuffle involving regional commissioners and county commissioners to improve security coordination and government service delivery across the country. The changes, announced on Friday, affect several senior government administrators as the government seeks to strengthen operations in different regions ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to the Interior Ministry, the transfers and promotions reflect the officers’ experience, strengths, and the security needs of different areas.
Among the major changes, the ministry moved Rhoda Nyaboke Onyancha from the Coast region to Nairobi, while Paul Rotich moved from the Eastern region to the Coast region.
The ministry also transferred Samson Macharia Irungu from the Western region to the Office of the President headquarters and recalled Flora Nkatha Mworoah from the Nyanza region to the headquarters.
In the promotions, the ministry appointed Jacob O. Muganda as Eastern Regional Commissioner, named Onesmus Musyoki Kyatha as Nyanza Regional Commissioner, and deployed Allan Machari as Western Regional Commissioner.
Some Regional Commissioners kept their positions, including Joshua Muriungi Nkanatha in the Central region, John Odhiambo Otieno in the Northeastern region, and Dr Abdi Mohammed Hassan in the Rift Valley region.
At the County Commissioner level, the ministry moved Joseph Kibet Boen from Kiambu to Kilifi, while Stephen Kutwa Sangolo moved from Baringo to Lamu County.
The ministry also transferred Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru from Kericho to Tana River and moved John Kiprotich Cheruiyot from Samburu to Meru County.
Other changes saw John Taari move to Kakamega, James Gatutha move from Marsabit to Kisii, and several officers return to the Office of the President headquarters.
Kipchumba Murkomen said the changes take effect immediately and will help improve coordination, security management, and delivery of public services across Kenya.
