Muslims urged to adhere to Covid protocols in marking Idd-ul Fitr

Muslims across the country have been urged to adhere to Covid-19 protocols as they mark Idd-ul Fitr to mark the end of Ramadhan.

Speaking during the Thursday prayers in Jamia Mosque grounds, Mandera County Public Health Director Hassan Somo urged the Muslim faithful to follow all related Covid-19 health protocols in order to stop the further spread of the virus.

Somo said in Mandera County the Muslim faithful have complied with health guidelines put in place and urged the Muslims to continue doing so.

A team from Kenya Red Cross were also available helping the Muslims by distributing 2500 face mask and 50 liters of sanitizer to Muslim Jamia Mosque in Mandera.

However, residents thanked the government for their efforts as they marked the day of Idd-ul Fitr with all measures put in place.

Cabinet Secretary for Interior Dr. Fred Matiangi gazetted Friday, May 14^th as a public holiday to celebrate Idd-ul-Fitr.

Idd-ul-Fitr, or festival of Breaking the fast, is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims to mark the end of the month-long fasting.
