Nairobi: DCI solves Umoja 1 Estate Murder Case

In the last week, a woman’s body was found dismembered on the lawns of Tumaini School in Umoja, the killer had escaped, or so, many people thought.

Today, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives arrested 42-year-old David Migwi Kariuki who is suspected of committing the heinous act.

The DCI wrote on their social media pages:

Following the discovery of dismembered body parts of a monstrously murdered woman at Tumaini Pry School playground in Umoja II on May 31st 2020, the suspect; 42-yr-old David Migwi Kariuki has been arrested by DCI Detectives at a house where he moved after the heinous act.
Detectives investigating the murder had linked it to a house at a nearby Amani Estate where the occupant (David Migwi) had since moved from, having kept the body therein for several days, and only disposed it in a sack after the odour from its decomposing parts became unbearable. On 27th April 2019, the same suspect was captured on cctv walking out of Green Club along Latema Road in Nrb CBD with a lady, a few hours before the dismembered body parts of a woman were found dumped in different locations.
The head, arms & legs had been dumped at Umoja dumpsite and the torso later found along Landhies Road. DNA analysis on the body parts matched that of 36-year-old Penina Wairimu Njeri, the woman he had walked with from the club. The suspect disappeared and has been on the run until today when DCI officers pounced on him.
Placed in custody pending arraignment, as forensic examination of the recovered body parts (aimed at revealing the woman’s identity) continue.
