Nairobi Hospital has shut down one of its satellite clinics without any official explanation, fuelling coronavirus epidemic speculation in the Karen suburb.

The Nairobi Hospital Galleria Clinic located in a prime location in the city will not be offering outpatient services for an undisclosed period, but the management did not state the reasons for the closure.

“Kindly be informed that the clinic has closed till further notice. Apologies for any inconveniences caused,” a notice seen by KenyanBulletin.com

However, unconfirmed reports indicate that a staff member at the clinic might have been infected with the coronavirus disease.

Attempts by Kenyan Bulletin to reach the management for comment failed, as our calls went unanswered.

On Tuesday, 31st March, the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers announced that one of its members had contracted the coronavirus disease.

The clinical officer is said to have attended to a person at her clinic in Ngara, Nairobi, who recently came from a foreign country.

She later infected her husband with COVID-19 and their children have been also been placed under mandatory quarantine waiting for tests.

Barely three weeks ago, a Kakamega nurse ran for her life after patient exhibiting coronavirus symptoms visited the hospital where she works..
