Nairobi dwellers to pay Sonko for every chicken they slaughter in their houses

Nairobi residents will have to pay Ksh. 50 to the County Government for every chicken they slaughter in their houses.

This is if the Nairobi County Finance Bill 2019 that is currently at the public participation stage is passed.

If passed the Bill will also see churches and mosques cough up to Ksh. 10,000 per month in form of revenues paid to the county.

“Even churches and mosques that have never been taxed in any part of the world, will now have to pay revenues to the government, therefore we will mobilise the churches and mosques to reject this bill,” cried Rajab Mohamed a Kibera resident.

The bill which has attracted a wide criticism will also see slum dwellers forced to get fire extinguishers into their houses.

A meeting held last week in Lang’ata Constituency last week to seek public participation into the bill flopped after attendees noticed that proper awareness was not made to the people of Nairobi.

Sidi Otieno of the Bunge La Mwananchi says only 18 people were present in the meeting that was supposed to represent 10 wards from Lang’ata and Kibra constituencies.

Otieno has since filed a petition to stop the bill saying it is not being conducted in the right manner.
