Naivas And Glovo Home Deliveries Looting Scheme Exposed
A Glovo rider

As coronavirus scare continue chumbling our stomachs and COVID after our now dreary lives, Glovo— an on-demand ordering app and Naivas Supermarkets have started taking advantage of the unfortunate situation.

Kenyan Bulletin news desk has received tangible proof of the most heinous looting scheme that is actively and already in the pipe.

Hey,  I wanted to request you warn buyers from glovo Naivas to be extra careful. These guys are stealing from people. They are displaying less prices on items then if you’re paying cash, they hike the price not forgetting, they bring less items. These guys are a real fraud, they custom-make your order to fit the price you had bought for dropping some stuff… Then after an enquiry, they tell me I pay the amount indicated.

This was my order

This was the amount I was supposed to pay.

They brought less stuff..for those ordered two they brought one..for the items they had discount they put normal prices…then custom made the receipt to be same amount as my order

This is the prices they had online and yet they billed me a higher price on the delivery

The real catch and your focus should be on the prices of the labelled items- oil, sugar and green grams on my shopping list on the Glovo app …also some items like the uji mix and green grams I ordered for 2 they brought one of each item..Baking powder and royco knorr cubes are missing yet they were in the shopping list so how did the price total up to same amount 3339?

For starters, Glovo announced a partnership with Naivas Supermarkets to provide deliveries in the wake of the COVID 19 Global Pandemic.

The partnership saw Glovo offer free deliveries for orders above Ksh.1,000 from Saturday 21 March to Sunday 29 March 2020, and a flat rate delivery fee of Ksh.100 on deliveries above Ksh.1,000 from Monday 30 April to Sunday 19 April.

“As an on-demand delivery service, we can provide food, groceries as well as over the counter pharmacy products. We have an obligation to make these essential products as accessible as possible, especially for those citizens in need” said the company’s regional head of marketing Priscilla Muhiu.

Glovo

Glovo is a startup founded in 2015 in Barcelona and, since then, has expanded its operations to three continents – Europe, Africa, and South America.

The service is present in over 20 countries and more than 100 cities (including  Paris, Madrid, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, Cairo and now Nairobi). Every month, around 3 million orders are being delivered through the app under an average delivery time of 45 minutes.

Priscilla Muhiu, Glovo’s Head of Marketing for Sub-Saharan Africa said the launch in Nairobi has strengthened its operations in Africa and reinforces the transformation that the on-demand economy and delivery sector is undergoing in Kenya.

“We are extremely excited about our launch in Nairobi after Morocco and Cairo, which strengthens our presence in Africa, and at the same time reinforces the transformation that the on-demand economy and delivery sector is undergoing in Kenya. Our vision is to bring the convenience of technology to everyone’s hand, giving them access to their own city, while creating income opportunities for thousands of our delivery riders,” said Muhiu.

“Glovo is committed to providing our customers with any product from Nairobi within minutes. Today Glovo is launching partnerships with Naivas, Java House, and Onn The Way, adding these Nairobi institutions to the list of Nairobi’s best-loved stores and restaurants that are already on the platform. Glovo is the only platform where consumers in Nairobi can access such a breadth of content within minutes and we are happy that the Glovo platform is helping our partners to access new customers who they may not have been able to access to date.” William Benthall, Glovo’s General Manager for Kenya said.

Its fundraising so far stands at Sh32.5 billion ($322 million). Last year, the firm raised Sh13.5 billion ($134 million) from VC and PE firms in its third round of fundraising. It has enlisted more than 120 riders who make deliveries in Nairobi.
