Nakuru County Medical Staffs Cry Foul

The Chair of Nakuru County contracted medical staffs has sent us disturbing issues.

For the past four years, after being employed by then-governor Kinuthia, their salaries and contracts have been tossed out.

“I have a long story about Nakuru county that has been disturbing us for 4 years now. I am reaching out to you maybe we will get some help

I’m the chairperson of Nakuru county contracted medical staffs. We were employed by the former regime under the former governor Kinuthia in 2016.

We have been working since then on contracts that last even for three months, the longest contract lasted for 2years but mostly we do renew it.

We don’t have payslips, we don’t have any allowances despite working under the same conditions with the permanent staffs.

Last year after CONSULTING with different unions about our contract they advised us to write a petition to the county assembly, we looked for a lawyer and he drafted a petition which we took to the county assembly and it passed all the right channels and it was voted for by the county assembly and it favoured us to be employed on a permanent basis.

The petition was then taken to the executive but the never implemented, we reached out to them and tried to ask why they haven’t implemented the petition they told us we go back to the assembly and tell them they have refused to implement it.

The department of health Nakuru county has misused us and they are very rude to us since they know we can’t take them anywhere they even told us from the CEC HIMSELF- kama hatutaki kazi tuache ata wao wako on contract.

Our contract ended yesterday and before then they had given us termination letters and we were forced to sign since we have no powers we signed reason being we don’t take them to court because of our petition.

As you know all the medical professionals were given COVID ALLOWANCES BUT BELIEVE YOU ME ALL THE NAKURU COUNTY CONTRACTED STAFFS WHO ARE AROUND 500 MEDICS HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THEIR COVID ALLOWANCES UP TO DATE.

Right now no official communication from the county whether we should go to work or be at home since we signed termination letters but we got messages that we should be at work it sucks.

We need some help and I know you are in a position to help us out. We are tired of this cheap labour.
