New Kenyan artists to work with Akon in new competition – KBC

The award-winning rapper, songwriter and singer, Akon, will mentor the winners

New and emerging Kenyan artists have an opportunity to work with American-Senegalese producer and hitmaker Akon in a new competition called The Digital Emerging Artist Showcase (DEAS).

DEAS is a collaboration between Boomplay and Hitlab offering emerging artists a recording contract with an international music label, an opportunity to be mentored by Akon, a partnership with Africa’s largest music streaming and download platform, amongst other exciting prizes.

DEAS is the first international competition for emerging artists of its kind in Africa with a fully digital application process, where artists can submit their songs for analysis through Hitlab’s artificial intelligence, Digital Nuance Analysis (DNA) technology, which ranks submitted songs to showcase the potentiality in an international market. Metrics such as production (beat, mastering), are considered in the fully-digital analysis.
