No mask, No voting! IEBC on anticipated Msambweni by election

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has set a number of rules in adherence to the COVID-19 protocols ahead of Msambweni by elections slated for tomorrow.

Among the rules put in place tomorrow by IEBC are no voting for individuals who are not wearing masks.

The IEBC has also stated that social distancing among voters and poll officials must be observed in every polling station.

Also set to be observed is the disinfecting of surfaces, sanitizing and washing hands for everyone at the polling station.

IEBC Commissioner Boya Molu says that the protocols were developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

“We shall have an officer who shall have a thermo-gun to check the temperature, we have water and sanitizers at every polling station, and gloves and masks for all our officials. So we are asking the public to strictly comply with these requirements,” he said.

Tomorrow’s by-elections are set for Msambweni constituency, Kahawa-Wendani Ward in Kiambu County, Kisumu North Ward in Kisumu, Lake view Ward in Nakuru County, Dabaso Ward in Kilifi County and Wundanyi and Mbale wards in Taita Taveta County.
