The collaboration is part of the national government’s broader push to promote travel experiences outside traditional circuits and open up new destinations across Kenya.

This agreement will see both levels of government work closely on organizing, identifying, and marketing the county’s natural and cultural attractions.

Among the main areas of attention is the county’s suitability for altitude training, a trait that has made it popular among athletes.

The Ministry aims to support the growth of sports-related activities by offering visibility and promoting such facilities on wider platforms.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano stated that her office is committed to working hand in hand with local leaders to bring out the county’s potential.

“We are supporting the full mapping of all places, traditions, and events in Nyandarua that could attract guests, both from Kenya and beyond,” she said.

CS Miano joined Deputy President Prof. Kindiki Kithure on a field visit to review road construction efforts within the area.

Roads play a major part in connecting visitors to remote sites, and improving access points remains a key task in the Ministry’s plans.

Nyandarua’s scenic views, proximity to the Aberdare Ranges, and its calm countryside offer plenty of room for new travel ideas.

With the county’s leadership on board and national-level assistance in planning and promotion, the collaboration could bring new life to the local economy through hospitality, sports, and cultural events.

This move falls under the broader push to spread tourism benefits to less-explored regions, boost county-level participation in national development goals, and give travelers more options beyond well-known destinations.
