Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo of ANC party will be the next governor of Nyamira County after Gov. John Nyangarama succumbed to covid-19 at the Nairobi Hospital last week.
Nyaribo who had plans of challenging his boss in 2017 but was paid to allow Nyangarama recapture his seat is an ANC man and a Ruto sycophant who had planned to sponsor an impeachment motion against the late governor.
The two county leaders had a very bad working relationship with reliable sources revealing that Nyangarama even cursed his deputy before he died.
Things got worse after Nyaribo sponsored some lazy youths to boo Nyangarama in his own Constituency in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The embarrassing incident happened after a lobby group staged demos against the late governor over massive looting. Nyangarama was also accused of burning down a section of county offices to destroy evidence.
But their relationship remained bad even after Nyangarama paid Nyaribo millions of shillings to withdraw his candidature in 2017 because the DG felt duped.
The late governor discarded a memorandum of understanding he signed with DG Nyaribo before 2017 polls on how they would share plum positions.
Nyangarama bought him, won his seat back the planted his ODM allies in all the plum positions with rogue ones roughening up his deputy.
Angered Nyaribo was to run on an ANC Party ticket like he intended to in 2013. He is ANC party member and now the first ANC governor.
Post Nyangarama politics in Nyamira are promising to be interesting since Nyaribo does not get on well with most of the late governor’s allies.
Plans are already underway to sponsor an impeachment motion once Nyaribo takes oath.
The first ANC governor is also facing rebellion from a majority of county chief executive officers who were appointed by the late Nyangarama of ODM.
Kieleweke, ODM Senators and pro handshake MCAs are fond of impeaching anti-system governors who are facing graft charges and opposing BBI at the same time.
A man who has accepted bribe to withdraw his candidature like Nyaribo must be scandalous enough to fall in ODM’s impeachment plot which is already cooking.
Nyaribo is a member of Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC Party but a close ally of the Deputy President William Ruto who has poked holes on the BBI document for proposing an expanded executive and overcrowded parliaments.
Two governors allied to the DP have been successfully impeached since the handshake deal was struck between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga.
Former Kiambu governor was impeached earlier in the year then Nairobi’s Mike Sonko was kicked out last week. Both are corrupted and facing charges in court.
