New Kids on the block, Ochunglo family has cancelled a project where they were to collaborate with rapper Khaligraph Jones citing excuses that the song would not hit or make it beyond the studio walls.
Many established musicians have been flocking the studio doors of the fast rising genge tone artists to stay relevant. Ochunglo must have seen that as the ploy the self proclaimed O.G had in mind and shot the project even before the intro was penned.
Papa Jones is riding high on collaborations and theatrics than music lately not single projects. Joints with Masauti, Khali kartel and Msupa S have kept him a float, at least he is talked about. But his alleged face off, fight or push push with Sauti Sol was scripted to stir controversy and get them time in the media.
Even Sauti Sol band is surviving on collaborations at the moment. Their projects with Kaskazini band and H_art the Band are receiving good airplay and reception.
The so called big names like Khali, would not step into the studio with upcoming artists a year or a couple of months ago but are now bowing to the winds of change.
Rapper Kristoff succeeded to lace a verse in Boondocks’ ‘Nipeleke na Ryeng’ remix and the song is receiving a massive airplay now. This could be the same strategy Khali was aiming to employ but the family of ants stung him instead.
