ODM has said that The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally scheduled for Narok county today will go on as earlier planned despite cancellation rumours.
Through the party’s Communication Director Philip Etale, ODM trashed claims by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria that the Narok rally was called off in the last minutes over fears of disruptions by Tanga Tanga sympathizers.
Kabogo condemns BBI politicians for mistreating Kuria
Remarks by Gatundu South lawmaker came after some leaders from Rift Valley walked out of a BBI meeting that was held before today’s rally. Emuria Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno and Narok Deputy Governor Evalyn Aruasa walked out the BBI meeting over claims of tribal profiling.
It is alleged that the daughter of the late cabinet minister William Ole Ntimama claimed that the position of governor and deputy should be a preserve of the Maasai community.
Controversial Kuria went on to claim that the was proposing that all Non Maasais to vacate Narok and Kajiado counties and that those who legally bought land should surrender it to the indigenous community.
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina also rubbished Kuria’s sentiments as cheap propaganda from anti-BBI politicians. “Narok BBI rally is on, no one can stop reggae with these kind of propaganda, the rally is underway,” he said.
senator Olekina had differed with Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot in a heated Tv debate between supporter and opposers of the rally.
Opposition chief Raila Odinga met various leaders from communities living in Maa counties and asked them to work together and make BBI meet its goal of uniting Kenyans.
He also promised residents of the seven counties and their leaders that all efforts are being made to create room for all viewpoints, concerns and interests to be discussed openly and constructively to include all Kenyans.
