Olive Burrows is no doubt Kenya’s sweetheart. She is playful to a fault, but at the same time, incredibly ethical, and has never been caught in any of the scandals that are so common with young news anchors.
Details of her private life have largely remained hidden. This was even when she was paired up with Dennis Okari, and each appeared to represent one side of the Nairobi River. Okari, always announcing that he’s a Dandora kid, was considered the ambassador for Eastlands, while Burrows, who would always talk about fancy music and lavish things, was assumed to be from the other side.
Olive, however, let in on a secret that not many people know, and very few would have ever found out; her age.
With Ida Waringa missing in action on Friday, Olive took viewers through the day’s sports news, and, soon into the sports section, got to a news item about Kenyan boxers.
A group of Kenyan boxers had gone to Russia to take part in a competition and also prepare for the Tokyo Olympics scheduled for mid this year. It was then mentioned that the boxers hoped to clinch a medal in Tokyo, especially since the last time Kenya had won a medal in the discipline was back in the 1988 Olympics when Wangila scooped bronze.
After the specific news item, Olive concluded by saying that it has been so long since Kenya won an Olympics boxing medal that she had initially even thought that Wangila won his medal before she was born, but then realised that she was actually already born by 1988.
Although she didn’t drop her exact year of birth, from her own confession, we can accurately calculate that, if by 88 she had been born, then her latest possible year of birth is 1987, which will mean that she is either 34, or turning 34. One thing is however certain, she is in her mid-thirties.
