Oscar Sudi Accuses Rigathi Gachagua Over Attack on Rachael Muthoni
Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has publicly alleged that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, popularly known as “Wamunyoro,” was behind the brutal attack on Rachael Muthoni, the woman who captured the nation’s attention after tattooing the face of President William Ruto on her shoulder.

Online reports that circulated in shock among many Kenyans claimed that Muthoni was doused in petrol and set on fire by unknown assailants. The attack caused outrage on social media, with many demanding investigations and justice for the victim.

Sudi, who visited Muthoni in the hospital, condemned the attack as both inhumane and politically motivated. He accused Gachagua of stoking hatred and division in the country’s political sphere. But Sudi did not provide direct evidence linking the attack to the former deputy president.

“No Kenyan should be subjected to violence based on political support or personal expression,” said Sudi.

He appealed to leaders not to incite and urged authorities to let the law take its course.

The accusations have increased political tensions between President Ruto’s allies and Gachagua’s supporters. Relations between Gachagua and the Kenya Kwanza administration have been tense since lawmakers impeached him as deputy president in October 2024.

So far, Gachagua has not publicly responded to Sudi’s allegations. Nor have the authorities released any official findings linking any political leader to the attack.

The incident is still trending online with many Kenyans sympathizing with Muthoni and demanding a swift investigation into the assault.
