PANIC in County as OCPD Dies of Covid-19

Bondo officer commanding the police division (OCPD) Antony Wafula died of COVID-19, Governor Cornell Rasanga has confirmed. He tested positive for Covid-19 posthumously.

Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee of the Senate on Thursday Mr. Rasanga said samples taken from the body of the senior police officer showed that he had the new coronavirus.

Rasanga noted that two other officers within his government had contracted the novel COVID-19, further stating that all Bondo Police Station and those who came into contact with the deceased were directed to take the Coronavirus test.

Mr. Wafula had traveled to Nairobi, a virus hotspot, a week before he developed breathing complications and was rushed to Bondo Sub-county Referral Hospital. Unfortunately, he passed on at 1 am on Tuesday.

Several police officers from the station, led by the Bondo deputy sub-county police commander, took the test on Thursday within the station.

The county police boss described the late OCPD as a dedicated and hardworking officer who always delivered every task assigned to him.

“We have lost a dependable and reliable officer who was known to work without being supervised,” he said.
