PHOTOS: Couple Who Faked Mpesa Code To Avoid Paying Bill Exposed

In a new trend in the Kenyan night club aura, vile Kenyans are taking advantage of the no cash directive due to the coronavirus and pretending to pay via mobile money M-Pesa for their drinks but instead faking the confirmation codes leaving club employees to take the fall.

Talking to Kenyanbulletin Sheila* (not real name) who is a waitress at Lounge 254, Nairobi, reveals how a couple came into her place of work on Friday, ordered three bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey and food worth Sh16,100 then later faked payment for the drinks and food.

“It hurts when people steal from the less we earn, Let other hotel platforms be aware of this people.” Sheila laments.

In the event of an M-pesa payment, Sheila is supposed to provide customers with a paybill number where they pay, show her the confirmation code from M-pesa which she notes down. The code will then be later used to confirm payment in the system. In sheila’s case, there is no payment and management holds her responsible by taking the amount from her salary.

It is absolutely heartbreaking to see Kenyans exploiting the current situation and stealing from other barely surviving employees.
