Controversial former Nairobi rep aspirant Karen Nyamu over the weekend sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans after she was pictured smoking weed.
The vocal Nairobi Women Rep aspirant was attending anual Koth Biro finals at the iconic Umeme Grounds in Ziwani.
Karen who was part of the cheering squad was seen puffing weed before passing it over to a male fanatic seated next to her.
Nyamu’s move to smoke weed publicly comes barely a week after political leaders called for actions to legalize weed in Kenya, arguing that it has medicinal value.
During the memorial service of the late Kibara MP Ken Okoth, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was among the leaders who advised the MPs to push for its legalization.
“Ken alikua na mswada wa maana sana. Watu wanaogopa kuongea vitu controversial, mimi nitaongea. Huyu ndugu yetu alitaka ku-legalise marijuana ama bhangi. Ikona dawa ya cancer,” Sonko said.
The flashy governor urged young politicians, the likes of Babu Owino, KJ and Jaguar to continue fighting for marijuana to be legalized, adding that it should come from Jamaica.
Okoth was trying to push for legalisation of weed in the country, saying it had medicinal benefits.
