Kenyan Bulletin has received exclusive photos of the shocking ongoings at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
“This is the current situation at JKIA. Kenyans stuck and only diplomats allowed out. They have to go for self-quarantine despite having COVID required papers. They aren’t allowed to go for self-isolation as earlier advised by the government”
Here are the photos–
Last we heard about JKIA was when a Kenyan man had exposed yet another shocking coronavirus negligence at Kenya’s best-in terms of everything- airport, JKIA. This came at a time when Michael Joseph led management had been forced to redeploy the staff that recorded the Chinese plane landing at the airport amid the global scare of the spread of novel Coronavirus.
Last week, KQ CEO Allan Kilavuka stated in a memo to staff, that the carrier says the staff rationalization has been forced upon by the firm’s dwindling revenues over the last three months owing largely to the grounding of passenger flights.
“A decision has been reached to carry out an organisation-wide rightsizing exercise which will result in a reduction of our network, our assets, and our staff. Effectively, we have commenced a phased staff rationalisation process, which we expect to conclude by September 30 2020. With the suppressed demand for air transport, a large part of our fleet will remain grounded. We will also operate a reduced network when we resume our services as we anticipate that it will take some time before the industry starts to rebound,” noted KQ CEO Allan Kilavuka.
