Police kill GSU officer behind robbery and violence incidents Bungoma County in fierce shoot out

A General Service Unit (GSU) officer has been shot dead following a series of robbery with violence in Bungoma and Busia counties.

Police Constable Victor Lubakaya Nganga was gunned down by police on Tuesday, March 31, within precincts of Kenya Power company Bungoma brunch.

Police say on Monday, March 30, the slain officer masterminded a robbery with violence within Bungoma town.

“Following Robbery with violence incident which occured yesterday the 30/3/2020, Police officers traced down the suspect and with the assistance of members of the public, he was spotted within Kenya power Bungoma headquarter,” police said in a statement.

The deceased was then spotted within Kenya Power Bungoma headquarters in company of other two.

Police challenged the trio to stop but defied the orders and instead opened fire promoting men in blue to retaliate.

A shoot out ensued where the said officer was fatally injured while his other two colleagues escaped unhurt.

“Search was conducted on the slain gangster and found out that he was a GSU officer where they recovered a pistol and other personal documents,” police said.

The slain gangster was positively identified by the victims of yesterday’s robbery with violence and is believed to have been leading a gang which has been terrorising members of the public in a series of robberies within Bungoma and Busia Counties.

Officers still on the ground pursuing the other two who escaped.

Scene processed and body moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
