Detectives have launched investigations into alleged sexual assault claims by several female employees at Ardhi House, the Ministry of Lands headquarters in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

On the spot is the registry section where senior officials are accused of sexual abuse and making unwanted sexual overtures towards junior female staff and interns.

Complainants claim that despite the matter being reported to Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri, no action has been taken against the culprits.

David Nyandoro, Chief Registrar at the Ministry of Lands has been severally mentioned by female staff in the sexual assault investigations.

Mr Nyandoro is also accused of committing the same offence while stationed in Machakos. He was then transferred to Nairobi and was accused of rape again.

It is on that premise that the Ministry was last week forced to cancel night shifts at the registry after interns and female employees went on a go-slow to protest inaction from the top ministry brass.

Muraguri declined to comment on the matter only stating: “There is nothing I can say over whatever you are asking.”

The night shift, which was started to help clear backlog of files is now in disarray with officials warning it could delay issuance of land titles.

“We have reason to believe that these offenders are being protected by someone powerful either in the ministry or the government,” said the source.

Insiders at the Ministry one of the randy officials was ejected from a county in Rift Valley owing to allegations of sexual abuse and massive corruption.

Reports indicate that though the Human Resource Department at Ardhi House is seized of the matter, it has apparently failed to take action against the official.

On Friday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are said to have launched a probe after female staff took to social media to express their frustrations.

Detectives have appealed to the victims to come forward and share information.
