His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta and Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom will today conduct virtual school visits.
The duo are to virtually visit Westlands Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya and Cleves Cross Primary School in Ferryhill, England as part of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) initiative.
“The visits will provide President Kenyatta and Prime Minister Johnson an opportunity to directly engage with pupils, aged between 9 and 11 years, and create a high profile moment for championing education for all, with a special focus on technology and girls’ education,” stated the State House spokesperson.
Westlands Primary School and Cleves Cross Primary School are part of the Connecting Classrooms Through Global Learning (CCGL), a program that provides opportunities for pupils to engage peers across countries on global issues such as climate action and gender equality.
The event will start at 12noon EAT.
On April 27,2021, Kenyatta and Johnson had a phone conversation the Global Education Summit which Kenya and the UK will co-host in July.

“Today I spoke with President Kenyatta ahead of the joint UK-Kenya Global Education Summit. We agreed to work closely together to ensure 175 million more children get into school around the world. There’s a huge amount the two countries and can achieve together,” said Johnson.
