President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga are reportedly set to receive the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) report on Sunday during the Mashujaa day celebrations.
The head of State and his 2017 political nemesis will receive the report carrying details of recommendations on better ways the country will forge its political agenda.
BBI team has been collecting opinions from Kenyans, political parties, leaders among other stakeholders on better ways to enhance good governance in the country.
The technical team of the BBI has based its recommendations on the nine-point agreement reached by the two leaders during March 9, 2018 Handshake.
The team has proposed a wide range of recommendations that will transform the country’s electoral and governance system to reduce perennial conflicts over the presidential election and political positions.
The technical committee has also recommended a Parliamentary system of government to remove the focus on the presidency which has become a trophy of ethnic competition.
The committee has reportedly recommended that the president be collected by a college of legislatures and his functions be defined in the annexure.
According to the report, the president will serve a seven-year non-renewable term.
The report has also reportedly recommended a restructuring of the Executive to introduce the position of a Prime Minister.
The committee has also reportedly proposed a restructuring of the legislature, strengthening of the Senate as the upper house and abolishment of the position of the Nominated Senators.
The Uhuru-Raila 14-member BBI team was gazetted in May 2018.
