after transferring its former boss James Kembi Gitura to the communications
Authority, resident Uhuru Kenyatta earlier today appointed a new chairperson
for the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
Through a gazette notice dated Wednesday, April 28, 2021, the head of state picked Mary Chao Mwadime as the new Chair of the Authority’s Board of Directors, with the appointment taking effect on April 30, 2021, on a 3-year term.
At the same time, health Cabinet Secretay Mutahi Kagwe revoked the appointments of Timothy Mwololo Waema, Bibiana K.
In their capacity, Kagwe appointed Lawrence Wahome, Robert Nyarango, Terry Kiunge Ramadhani, Linton Nyaga Kinyua appointed as the new board members for a three-year term.
This officially revokes the appointment of former chair James Kembi Gitura who had been transferred to the Communications docket amid public outcry over the KEMSA probe.
Gitura had been the chairman of the Authority for close to 2 years with his transfer to the Communications Authority board later challenged in Court.
This comes days after David Murathe talked revealing that he had never been a director, shareholder, or beneficial owner of Kiliq company.
The Jubilee party Deputy chairman had been accused of influencing the tendering process and standing in as a signatory of Kilig Company, accusations he has since denied.
Murathe defended himself as just being approached to be a signatory to the Kilig bank accounts only to ensure that chan’s Entec Technology Limited, and the ultimate supplier of the PPE kits, were paid once the procurement process was completed.
The former Gatanga MP has maintained his innocence in the accusations with today’s appearance before the Public Investment Committee raising emotions with Murathe promising to sue those tarnishing his name.
“It’s very sad that some of us are treated as poster boys of the scandal. I have never supplied any mask and even my relatives are thinking I am a Covid billionaire. People are calling me asking me to give them money,” Murathe lamented in his closing remarks, threatening to sue media houses that reportedly tarnished his name.
