In an explosive exposé we can now authoritatively report that Prof Stephen Kiama was rigged in as the University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice-Chancellor (VC) and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) intends on ordering his arrest any time from now.
After the interviews for the position of UoN VC were conducted by the Public Service Commission (PSC), Prof Eng Bernard Njoroge emerged tops while Prof Kiama emerged last. The results of the interview were sent to the University of Nairobi Council which Prof Julia Ojiambo chairs; for the formal appointment and Prof Julia Ojiambo swapped Prof Njoroge’s marks with Prof Kiama’s and proceeded to appointment Prof Kiama as the institution’s VC, which is itself highly irregular as the formal appointment ought to be made by the Cabinet Secretary of Education Prof George Magoha.
Ojiambo is dead-set against Njoroge’s appointment due to Njoroge’s straight-by-the book demeanour and zero tolerance to corruption.
Prof Njoroge, with a stellar academic CV including attending the prestigious Alliance High School, obtaining a first class honours in civil engineering from the University of Nairobi a Masters in Civil Engineering from the University of Newcastle, UK and a PhD from the highly prestigious Duke University in North Carolina, US is a leading engineer in Kenya, and has been a consultant with the World Bank and other international organisations, therefore he does not need to loot the university funds, as he is in a financially stable position. Kiama on the other hand has a relatively weak academic CV with no real accomplishments to write home about.
Education CS Prof Magoha received intelligence of Kiama’s and Ojiambo’s corrupt acts and this is why Prof Magoha disbanded the Council and revoked Kiama’s appointment and invited the EACC to investigate the matter. Kiama and Ojiambo went to court and Magoha thought it wise to withdraw the case pending the EACC’s investigation.
The EACC and DPP have now confirmed Ojiambo’s and Kiama’s nefarious plan and intend to effect their arrest any time from now.
