Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has accused the Western nations of giving aid to sovereign African governments with many strings attached.
He added that western is using pressure, intimidation and blackmail to regain lost influence on their former colonies but Russia can offer real help without blackmail.
Russia is set to host 47 heads of states from the Africa at the summit scheduled for 23-24 in the Black Sea Resort in Sochi.
Putin says that Russia’s relationship with Africa has improved with clear pointers in military cooperation. Russia is currently supplying over 20 African countries with military hardware.
Rwanda for instance has had its relationship with Russia deepen. Its cabinet has given a go ahead to an agreement that aims to improve the use nuclear energy in what they call ‘peaceful purposes’.
The technology will be used in agriculture, protection of the environment and in production of energy.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM Leader Raila Odinga and Vimal Shah are expected to participate in the summit as panelists.
