Raila Odinga wins against DP Ruto in KMTC leadership wars

Dr Kelly Oluoch, KMTC Acting CEO. Dr Oluoch takes over from Prof Michael Kiptoo. Before his appointment, Dr. Oluoch has been serving as the Deputy Director in charge of Finance, Planning and Administration in the College. Previously, he served as Principal, Deputy Principal and Head of Department in the College. He also served as Pharmacist in Charge at Marsabit District Hospital.

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Kelly Oluoch as Acting CEO.

Dr Oluoch replaces Prof Michael Kiptoo.

Tuesday afternoon, some 15 members of National Assembly allied to William Ruto Tangatanga wing claimed that there is a scheme to sack senior government officials perceived to be close to DP William Ruto.

The happenings at KMTC might confirm this assertion as the corrupt board of directors at KMTC led by Prof Philip Kaloki remains in office while the CEO Prof Michael Kiptoo is hounded out.

‘The coming ousters will be messy and noisy, but it is politics and also signals the end of the power DP Ruto wilded in Jubilee’, said a political analyst at the University of Nairobi of the handshake politics and shake ups.

In November, the govt launched corruption investigations mostly touching on KMTC board of directors.

State Corporations Inspector-General Lawrence Okudo said that management may have flouted procurement processes in the payment of tenders. Board members are suspected to have paid themselves unwarranted allowances for meetings and events they did not attend.

There is a Sh7 billion dispute between the board and management. The money is what the college collects from students as fees and money from donors every year.

The newspaper further reported that the management feels the board is interfering with the day-to-day running of the institution.

Also being investigated is the appointment of company secretary on November 13, 2015.

KMTC board termed the investigations as normal occurrences.
