Raila on a Political trip abroad as Kenya mourns Kibaki

ODM leader Raila Odinga left the country for a week long Political in the United States of America as all of Kenya mourns their beloved former president Mwai Kibaki who died on Friday morning.

Raila left for the US in the company of his entourage which includes unscrupulous businessmen, tenderpreneurs like Suleiman Shahbal and failed politicians who are hopping for State appointments should he ascend to presidency in August.

The ODM party said Raila left the country shortly past noon for Washington DC after he unveiled the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance lineup in Nairobi.

Jubilee’s Polycarp Igathe and Wiper’s Philip Kaloki were presented as the coalition’s ticket for Nairobi gubernatorial seat, a day after ODM forced Tim Wanyonyi to drop his bid. Jubilee’s Richard Ngatia who had to drop his bid for lack of genuine degree certificate was promised a State job by Odinga.

The ODM leader is hoping to hold meetings with US Chamber of Commerce, the US State Department for the National Security Council and also the Kenyan Diaspora community, all of this while Kenyans mourn the passing of their son Mzee Kibaki. Perhaps, the priorities of Raila Odinga are clear – his political commitments take precedence over mourning for Mzee Kibaki – the very president who bestowed the Prime Minister position on Raila Odinga.

Odinga chose not postpone his trip to mourn Mzee Kibaki. The fallen leader who is remembered for introducing free education, revamping the economy, expanding infrastructure and the ushering in of the new constitution worked with Odinga as his PM after the disputed 2007 polls.

Leaders who share in Kibaki’s economic ideologies like the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto have suspended their campaigns in respect of the former president.

Ruto cancelled all Kenya Kwanza Alliance rallies as he mourned Kibaki as a great inspiration to Kenya Kwanza Alliance which is looking forward to change the economic fortunes of the country through the ‘bottom-up’ economic model.

Kibaki’s presidency was pegged on reviving the country’s economy after years of stagnation but Odinga became a stumbling block with his protests and calls to expand the executive which the fallen leader never paid attention to, and rightfully so.

The former Othaya MP who is also celebrated as the country’s best CEO expanded Kenya’s revenue base and collection, and he worked to feed off the country’s debt.

Suspension of Kenya Kwanza campaigns were announced by both the Deputy President Ruto and  Ruto’s Digital Secretary Dennis Itumbi while the country’s second in command was attending Kakamega County Economic Forum held at Musingu High School.

The Alliance was on that day expected to have a rally in Butula, Luanda and Eshisiru.

Raila left the country the same day President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a list of 24 envoys dominated by his cronies and Odinga cronies.

His entourage also includes Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia, James Ongwae (Kisii), former Kenyan Envoy to US Elkanah Odembo, Homabay County Senator Moses Kajwang’ and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.

It is now for the people of Kenya to decide, should they even respect, let alone vote for Raila Odinga, who has kept his personal aspiration ahead of respecting and mourning the departed Mzee Kibaki or should they side with Deputy President Ruto who is not just mourning the loss of Mzee Kibaki with the rest of Kenya but as a mark of respect, suspended all political activities of his entire alliance. Perhaps, the choice is clear.
