Safaricom has entered into a distribution agreement with retailer QuickMart to make its 4G and 5G home internet routers available at all 61 of the chain’s outlets across Kenya.
The collaboration aims to widen the availability of Safaricom’s home internet products by leveraging QuickMart’s nationwide retail footprint. Customers can now purchase routers in-store and activate them through a self-service process.

The new setup method involves scanning a QR code to register the SIM card, activate the service, and select an internet package.
Commenting on the rollout, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali, stated that the company is aiming to simplify access to internet services for households across the country.
Quickmart Chief Commercial Officer J. Thuku described the partnership as a step toward enhancing service availability within their retail network.
Beyond QuickMart, the routers, priced at Ksh 2,999, are also available at Safaricom shops, from authorized dealers, and online via Masoko.co.ke. Safaricom has indicated that more retail partnerships are under consideration.
The telecommunications firm reports that its 4G network now reaches over 97% of the Kenyan population, while its 5G network is active in all 47 counties.
These mobile-based home internet options are targeted at areas without fibre infrastructure.
In response to growing demand, Safaricom has also been working to expand its fibre network and improve connection speeds for Home Fibre users at existing price points.
The company has been conducting outreach campaigns such as home service clinics to support current users and collect feedback.
The 5G router is available with the following monthly plans:
50 Mbps at Ksh 4,000
100 Mbps at Ksh 5,000
250 Mbps at Ksh 10,000
For 4G routers, bundle options range from KES 499 for 7.5GB (valid 7 days) to KES 12,499 for 500GB (valid 30 days).
The launch is part of a broader set of initiatives as Safaricom marks its 25th year of operations in Kenya.
