Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is set to undertake a rare medical procedure at a health facility in the city of Dubai.

On Monday 13th December, the outspoken legislator disclosed that he will be among the pioneers in the world to go through a process known as stem cell therapy.

“I am scheduled for stem cell surgery this week. This is a rare surgery and I will be among the pioneers to undergo it in the world,” he revealed.

Kuria hopes the treatment will provide a remedy for his feet injuries which he sustained back in September after he suffered third-degree burns.

The accident was caused by an expensive electric mat which he bought to cure numbness in his feet.

After a series of other surgeries in the country, the lawmaker decided to seek further treatment from a world-class facility known as American Hospital in the United Arab Emirates.

The modern and state-of-the-art facility are known to attract world-powerful individuals including businessmen, politicians, and even celebrities is one of the few that performs stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medicine.

It is a special type of organ transplantation that uses cells instead of donor organs, which are limited in supply.

It promotes the repair response of injured tissue using stem cells or their derivatives.

Researchers grow stem cells in a lab which are then manipulated to specialize into specific types of cells, such as heart muscle cells, blood cells or in Kuria’s case, nerve cells.

Following his hospitalization after the incident, the Chama Cha Kazi party leader demanded accountability from Total Ceragem Africa Limited, the firm that sold him the gadget.

At the time, he stressed that Kenyans should not miscomprehend his efforts as he clarified that he is only pursuing the issue so that no other Kenyan endures what befell him.
