Linda Katiba a political-activist grouping whose mission is to defend against the changes proposed to the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, by BBI, has hit an iceberg.
Sources say there’s disquiet over some members in the outfit that brings together the civil society and a few politicians.
‘Some activists don’t like politicians such as for example Martha Karua, whose baggage over the 2007/ 2008 post election violence is a hard dirt to shake off’, said a source familiar with the matter.
Complaints about David Ndii ethnic dog-whistling is also one of the issues diving the anti-BBI group.
The economist has been called-out for referring to Luos ethnic tribe as Kihii, a Kikuyu word for uncircumcised.
Sources tell this authoritative blog that with leaders like Martha Karua, Boniface Mwangi, David Ndii among others, it has increasingly been hard to distance or dissociate the outfit from looking like a pro-Kikuyu; pro-tribe outfit.
The bashing that Linda Katiba has received for associating with Martha Karua, a proponent of constitutional sabotage between 2008 – 2010 has made it a hard sale.
David Ndii another intellectual associated with Linda Katiba is thought to be a bitter man out to settle scores with both Raila Odinga, for going for the handshake and Uhuru Kenyatta for denying his family a chance to implement the National Digital Registry System (NDRS) — an ambitious plan for panoptic biometric registration that the Kenyan government announced in 2014.
Huduma Namba is just NDRS 2.0, where the data will be sold to Mastercard for a fee.
Back to Linda Katiba, new activist such as Jerotich Seii, and some few others, likeBoniface Mwangi who is seriously considering a second stab at winning a political seat, are not happy with the recent ‘ethnic -leaning’ development.
This, they say is soiling their names even before they start.
