Ruto allies in Western criticise colleagues for visiting Moi

Lawmakers from Western Kenya allied to Deputy President William Ruto’s Tanga Tanga faction have faulted their colleagues who visited the home of Kanu chairman Gideon Moi in Kabarak.

Led by Mumias East Mp. Benjamin Washiali, the politicians accused Cotu boss Francis Atwoli, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who were in the delegation of hawking the community’s votes to outsiders ahead of 2022.

Other MPs who faulted the delegation include Mwambu Mabongah (Bumula), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Fred Kapondi (Mt Elgon), Malulu Injendi (Malava), Dan Wanyama (Webuye west), and Justus Murunga of Matungu.

The leaders had gathered at the home of Bumula lawmaker who narrowly escaped an accident along Eldoret-Nakuru highway last month.

ODM Deputy Party leader Oparanya, Atwoli and Eugene assured Moi of their support ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The Baringo Senator has been moving around the country to marshall troops and solidify his ground ahead of the coming polls. He was in Eldoret earlier in the week, mostly addressing gatherings in vernacular to capture the region that is politically under the command of DP Ruto.

Political activities have heightened in Western region with many leaders including cabinet secretaries trooping their to launch government projects.

Western is a contested zone that can sway presidency on either side. System or to the hustlers because over the time, western has been accused of not voting as a bloc.

While peaking at the thanksgiving event, Washiali said that the leaders who had taken the community to Moi’s home were an embarrassment to the luhya community.

“Our brothers have ridiculed and ashamed our community as Mulembe Nation by carrying a delegation to Moi to unveil a portrait without having an agenda for our people,” he said.

Luhya politicians and mostly first time Mps in the pockets of Ruto have also visited DP’s home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu severally in pre covid-19 politics.
