Deputy President Dr. William Ruto on Thursday led Tangatanga followers in attending the homecoming bash of the new Msambweni MP Feisal Bader in Ukunda.
But Msambweni by-election turned to be a battle between Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga who said the mini-poll was being used to test waters for BBI ahead of 2022.
Ruto who leads the Tangatanga faction of Jubilee backed Bader who has also promised to stand withthe DP who has declared his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who will retire in 2022.
The homecoming party marks DP’s first time to set foot in Msambweni since he threw his weight behind Bader who had defected from ODM.
Bader who was thankful of Ruto’s support in the hour of need said he will rally his community to throw their support behind Ruto come 2022.
“I was an orphan but Ruto decided to back me up, I won’t forget that and from now on henceforth we will support Ruto, ” he said.
The new leader who told the gathering that he was forcefully kicked out of ODM also vowed to use his position to serve his people diligently.
The party was attended by Tangatanga sycophants including Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and his deputy Fatuma Achani, Lunga-Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani, Kinangop MP Benjamin Tayari, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and Kandara MP Alice Wahome among other politicians.
