Deputy President William Ruto Has warned public servants to be very careful not be dragged into politics and allow themselves to be used to perpetuate political agenda.
He asked cautioned public servants to serve Kenyans in accordance with the law and not blackmailing and intimidating others for political mileage.
“We are in a country that is free and democratic so to try and use the criminal justice system to perpetuate a certain political agenda is in itself criminal,” said Ruto.
Kikuyu Mp Hon. Kimani Ichungwa who is a strong ally of the DP said the Tangatanga faction of Jubilee is facing an epic intimidation.
“Is the new formation meant to eliminate leaders perceived to be independent-minded?” Inchung’wa posed.
They claimed that BBI has been turned into a political tool to stop Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid and elevate Raila Odinga but Kenyans will not be forced to swallow the bitter pill that is BBI which they accuse of being behind the hate and divisions in the country.
“A strong bridge was built by Uhuru and Ruto and it cannot be brought down to build a new one that is being done by political brokers,” Mwangaza said.
DP Ruto: Kill me if you want, I’m ready for it
The outspoken and controversial Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria said that Tangatanga brigade will not bow to pressure and threats from dynasties and BBI proponents.
“If it were not for Ruto, Uhuru Kenyatta would not have been a President in Kenya. That I can state without any fear of contradiction,” Kuria said.
Kuria was speaking at the Catholic Church of Uganda Martyrs Kibirichia Parish in Buuri, Meru county where he had attended a service together with the DP Ruto.
Ruto also warned governors, senators, MPs and MCAs to avoid being blackmailed because of their political decisions as he told off people who are not comfortable with leaders associating with him to face him head on. ” They should come forward and face me instead of hiding behind some shadows” Ruto said.
The deputy president was accompanied by a host of leaders from the region that recently hosted a BBI rally including Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, MPs Rindikiri Mugambi (Buuri), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu), Kirima Nguchine (Central Imenti), Gichunge Kabeabea (Tigania East), Halima Mucheke, Kawira Mwangaza (Meru Woman Representative), Kanyuithia Mutunga (Tigania West), Gichunge Kabeabea (Tigania East) and Kubai Iringo (Igembe Central).
Linturi asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Kenya Revenue Authority and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to independently discharge their mandate without bowing to political pressure.
He said that some state agencies had been infiltrated by politicians and turned into outfits being used to intimidate political opponents and opponents of the BBI. He was particular on the DCI Boss George Kinoti.
Ruto recently criticized the spy chief for playing CCTV footages from Harambee House Annex where DP’s office in town sits. Ruto described the move as drama but not a serious investigation to unearth the killers of Sergent Kipyegon Kenei.
Kenei was found dead in his house in Nairobi’s Imara Daima and the investigators and pathologists have ruled out suicide saying the office was killed and the body taken to his house. He was attached at the Harambee Annex office .
