Safaricom has committed Ksh.46.5 million to support the 2025 WRC Safari Rally, returning as the event’s official connectivity partner.

This year’s rally will take place from Thursday, March 20 to Sunday, March 23 in Naivasha.
As part of the agreement, Safaricom will provide six Cell on Wheels (C.O.W.s) to improve network access across key areas such as Kedong, Elementaita, Soysambu, Morendat, and Hell’s Gate.
These mobile units will strengthen mobile coverage for fans, rally crews, and organizers.
Safaricom will also set up two advanced media hubs—one at the Service Park and another at Hell’s Gate.
These centers will give journalists reliable internet access and support live broadcasts of the event.
In addition, data bundles will be supplied to media houses for coverage away from these designated points.
A safety caravan fitted with telematic devices and a Smart Vehicle Tracking System will help monitor movements and support emergency response.
These tools will be fitted into ambulances and safety vehicles to keep rally teams and fans protected.
“This marks the fifth year of our support for the WRC Safari Rally since its return to Kenya in 2020,” said Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa. “Our role this year is to provide fast and reliable internet during the event. We’re also setting up a health camp in Naivasha town to serve the community during the rally period.”
WRC Safari Rally CEO Charles Gacheru said preparations are almost done. “I thank Safaricom for backing us again this year. We invite fans to show up and enjoy the rally as local and global stars compete across tough terrains,” he said.
This year’s line-up has 47 entries. Toyota GAZOO Racing is led by Elfyn Evans, followed by two-time Safari winner Kalle Rovanperä, Takamoto Katsuta, and Sami Pajari.
Hyundai Motorsport’s team—Thierry Neuville, Ott Tänak, and Adrien Fourmaux—will challenge Toyota’s unbeaten run since 2020.
M-Sport Ford has three drivers: Grégoire Munster, Josh McErlean, and Jourdan Serderidis.
WRC2 entries include Oliver Solberg, Kajetan Kajetanowicz, Jan Solans, Gus Greensmith, and Diego Domínguez. Fau Zaldivar from Paraguay also joins the list.
Kenya will be represented by Karan Patel, Carl Tundo, Hamza Anwar, and Jeremiah Wahome.
Safaricom continues to show strong support for sports across the country.
