A Safaricom employee was on Tuesday arraigned in court for allegedly stealing from a dead woman’s account.
Peter Odhiambo Ochieng was charged that on July 26, 2019 by virtue of being an employee of Safaricom Kenya Limited, he accessed a Safaricom number belonging to the late Janet Khaniri wife to Wilson Karani Khaniri.
Odhiambo is further accused of stealing Ksh.45,600 property of the deceased person on the same date at an unknown place.
Appearing before Magistrate Martha Mutuku, the accused pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Through his lawyer, the accused person pleaded for lenient bond terms arguing that he is the sole bread winner to a very young family.
The court released him on a cash bail of Ksh.100,000 or an alternative of Ksh.200,000 bond.
