Safaricom has been named Africa’s Most Admired Brand at the 2025 Brand Africa Awards, winning five major accolades for its leadership in innovation, social impact, and sustainability.

Founded in 2010, the Brand Africa initiative recognizes companies that drive the continent’s growth through strong brand leadership and community empowerment. Based on consumer surveys across African markets, the awards shine a spotlight on brands making a real difference.

Safaricom stood out in five major categories at the 2025 edition.

  • Most Admired African Brand

  • Most Admired Brand – Telecommunications

  • Most Admired African Brand – Contributing to a Better Africa

  • Most Admired African Brand – Doing Good for Society and the Environment

  • Grand Prix Winner – For outstanding purpose-led brand leadership and commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive Africa

“Being recognized as Africa’s most admired brand is a celebration of our journey and impact over the last 25 years. We are proud to stand at the intersection of technology, purpose, and innovation. This win belongs to our customers, employees, and partners who continue to believe in our mission to transform lives,” Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa, CBS, said while commenting on the recognition.

The Grand Prix accolade, one of the highest honours of the awards, highlighted Safaricom’s role in advancing sustainability, social change, and responsible business practices.

It comes at a significant moment as the company marks its 25th anniversary in 2025, reflecting on a legacy that extends beyond telecommunications to shaping lives through digital inclusion, financial empowerment, and community development.

Safaricom’s impact is most visible through services like M-PESA, Kenya’s pioneering mobile money platform, and its investments in clean energy, digital literacy, and inclusive connectivity.

With this recognition, Safaricom continues to cement its status not just as a network provider, but as a values-driven African brand redefining what corporate leadership can look like in the 21st century.
