Safaricom customers enjoyed uninterrupted viewing of the Euro and Copa America finals, thanks to a strategic decision by the telecom giant to postpone a scheduled system maintenance that was originally planned to happen from Sunday 11 pm to 4 am on Monday.
The move ensured football fans across the country enjoyed uninterrupted streaming and communication services as they fully immersed themselves in the excitement of Spain’s 2-1 victory over England and Argentina’s 1-0 win against Colombia.
In a statement on Sunday night, Safaricom said it had taken into consideration the feedback received after announcing the now-rescheduled maintenance.
“We hear you, and we value your feedback. The scheduled system maintenance later this evening has been rescheduled to a later date to allow you to enjoy a worry-free M-PESA on this sport-packed evening,” it said.
The service provider had earlier announced the maintenance “to meet our promise to always offer worry-free superior customer experiences”.
Access to lipa na M-PESA, paybill and buy goods services, international money Transfers (Western Union), M-PESA Global, as well as M-PESA App and my Safaricom App was to be available intermittently.
“All other services including calls, data, SMS and all other M-PESA services will be available as usual,” Safaricom said.
