Uganda’s former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, is facing growing pressure after security officers reportedly seized luxury vehicles from her residence in Kigo, Kampala.
Videos shared online on Monday showed security officers escorting a Rolls-Royce and a Range Rover bearing the personalised number plate “AAA” to Kampala’s Forensics Headquarters. The footage quickly spread across social media and sparked debate among Ugandans.
According to Ugandan media reports, officers from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and other security agencies raided properties linked to Among in Kigo, Nakasero and Ntinda. Investigators say the operation forms part of ongoing investigations into alleged corruption, money laundering and illicit enrichment.

Authorities reportedly confiscated the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which costs more than UGX3 billion. The luxury vehicle had recently drawn public attention after photos of it circulated online.
Investigators also reportedly took Among’s phone and searched through documents and valuables at her homes. Earlier, Uganda’s Inspectorate of Government confirmed that lawyers had filed complaints challenging her wealth declarations and urging authorities to investigate her assets.
The developments come just days after Anita Among announced that she would not seek re-election as Speaker of Parliament. In a public statement, she said she was ready to cooperate with investigators and support her party’s decisions.
