The boundary squabbles involving Kisumu, Vihiga and Siaya counties is now before the committee on devolution, intergovernmental and relations in the senate.
The feud has been boiling under the dispensation of the 2010 constitution where members of the Banyore community (a sub-tribe of Luhya) who live in locations in Kisumu and Siaya counties complained of being treatedd as second class citizens.
Siaya and Kisumu form part of the larger Nyanza predominantly occupied by the members of the Luo community.
But locations as Otwenya, Marenyo and Sagama are occupied by Banyores who relocated from Vihiga.
The complainants behind the petition said the state and the national assembly have terribly failed to address the conflict.
The Banyore also claim that insitutions as Maseno University, Maseno School and facilities like Maseno Mission Hospital and Lela market being grabbed by Siaya and Kisumu counties as Vihiga senator George Khaniri remains hopeful of a lasting solution.
The restless nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi recently petitioned parliament to probe the issue after it emerged that some members of the Bunyore community have been moved to Kakamega forest.
Osotsi who is eyeing the Vihiga senatorial seat in 2022 is aiming score political points against the incumbent who is sounds laid back and only hopeful that parliament will get amicable solution.
The Banyores had in the passed accused the area’s late MP Erick Khasakhala for pocketing bribes to have some members of the community thrown on the Luo side.
