Days after tendering a personal request to his party leader Raila Odinga on his 2022 Presidential bid Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been accused of malpractices.
The County head has
been accused by his Senator Cleophas Malala of tender awarding malpractices
contrary to the laid down procedures.
This is after Senator Malala accused Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of awarding county tenders meant for the Youth, women, and people living with disabilities to his cronies and relatives.
“@GovWOparanya
has awarded Bush clearing tenders to his friends & relatives; tenders meant
to benefit youth, women & people living with disabilities from Kakamega
county.
contractors friendly to the governor,” wrote Malala.
The senator featured in a video accusing the County’s Procurement office of giving out 12 contracts for bush clearing which will be used to steal county money in the next two weeks.
In his lamentations, the 12 roads valued at Ksh.4 Million each should not only be for a few individuals who are friends of the Kakamega Governor.
“If you look at the companies
that were awarded the tenders belong to the friends of the governor. His
friends who helped him campaign in Matungu are the people that have been
awarded the 12 tenders,” claimed Cleophas Malala.
Calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to look into the matter, adding that bush clearing requires no machinery or capital while questioning why Kazi Mashinani youths and self-help groups were not awarded the bush clearing tenders.
